Same Day Porcelain Crowns Using CEREC® in Lancaster & Palmdale
What are Dental Crowns?
A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.
Although there are several types of crowns, porcelain (tooth colored crown) is the most popular, because they resemble your natural teeth. They are highly durable and will last many years, but like most dental restorations, they may eventually need to be replaced. Porcelain crowns are made to match the shape, size, and color or your teeth giving you a natural, long-lasting beautiful smile.
Reasons for crowns:
- Broken or fractured teeth.
- Cosmetic enhancement.
- Decayed teeth.
- Fractured fillings.
- Large fillings.
- Tooth has a root canal.
What Does Getting a Crown Involve?
In the past, a porcelain crown required two appointments. The patient would have to wear a temporary crown while the finished crown was being made at the laboratory, which usually took about two weeks. The procedure required a gooey impression material be placed in the mouth to make an impression of the tooth.
Truly a remarkable experience. Going in I was nervous about getting my first crown but Dr. Stein and his staff were wonderful! The state of the art technology had me in and out in no time with a perfect crown. I feel so fortunate to have been referred to him that I want to pass the recommendation along to others! You will not be disappointed!

Same Day Crowns in Lancaster Utilizing Advanced CEREC® Technology!
Thanks to new digital technology, Dr. Stein is now able to make porcelain crowns here in the office in one visit! Impressions are no longer necessary as the teeth are digitally scanned with a small wand. The measurements are then sent to a milling machine here in the office where the crown is perfectly shaped and contoured to the patient's tooth. Staining and glazing are then customized to the individual's surrounding teeth. The crown is permanently cemented at the same appointment.
There are, on rare occasions the need to take an impression, send it to an outside laboratory for fabrication of the crown, which will require two appointments.
"Our goal is to treat you with the best quality care to ensure your dental needs and oral health."
